A while back I resolved to go out for a walk every morning before work begins, and this simple routine has fast become one of the highlights of my day.
Comfortable running shoes ☑️ Warm jacket ☑️ Airpods ☑️ My favourite worship songs queued ☑️ And of course, my wristwatch because those steps have got to count.
I pause occasionally to capture some stunning views. Once in a while I run into a stranger and we strike a conversation about any and everything – always funny to me how I can be so introverted, yet I’m a sucker for a good conversation.
I head home in time to fix a quick breakfast before my first meeting of the day, sometimes making a stop at the grocery store to buy my favourite sourdough bread.
My walk is always a little more exciting when I can get a picture of an oncoming train, a little gift for my train-obsessed children.
The views over the next few months will be different, as the yellows and browns of fall give way to the brilliant (and sometimes muddy) whites of winter.
